In the most recent AVCA Coaches Poll, Ohio State volleyball jumped all the way to the fifth spot after a stellar November. The Buckeyes had a rough weekend and haven’t recovered yet.
The Buckeyes had a huge weekend last week and are now tied for first place in the Big Ten Conference. As a result of their road wins against No. 15 Purdue and No. 4 Nebraska, Ohio State has thrown the conference standings into disarray.
Ohio State was tied with Wisconsin atop the B1G with a 1–2 record heading into the weekend. Those teams were currently one game ahead of Nebraska, who was one game behind.
With losses to unranked Maryland on the road on Friday night and unranked Indiana at home on Sunday, Ohio State finished the weekend in third place, behind those two teams.

Despite being down 2-1 going into the fourth set, Ohio State was able to come back and win the match. The Buckeyes won the fourth set 25-20 to force a decisive fifth set, but ultimately fell short in the five-set match, losing by a score of 16-14.

Even though Ohio State is still in the running for the Big Ten championship (at least for the time being), this is a devastating blow to a program that was performing at a high level just one week ago. With any luck, the Buckeyes will be able to get their act together as we get closer to the end of the regular season and the start of tournament play.
